African American Legacy Day

August 19, 2022 - August 20, 2022

Free

Legacy Day – a festival that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of African Americans in Kent County – has occurred each August for the past several years. It’s an opportunity for all to have a great time recognizing their shared history.

Each year, a Legacy Day theme is selected and builds a full day of experiences around the chosen theme. In addition to exhibits and an honoree ceremony, everyone enjoys a parade, special art exhibits, an outdoor dance party along with a variety of vendors offering food, beverages and crafts!

The 2022 Legacy Day theme will be celebrating Kent County’s Veterans. Friday: Honoree Reception; Saturday: Genealogy workshop, concert, Outdoor Dance Party with a live DJ.

Legacy Day: Community, History, Culture!

Restaurants open their patios for outdoor dining, miles of the region's trails thaw out for long bike rides, and seasonal blooms paint a picture perfect scene for heading out on a covered bridge tour. https://t.co/KN8cwxo3jp

At 148 acres of rolling hills and woodlands, Montgomery Hall Park is a great asset to Staunton. Once you’re on the looping miles of wooded hiking trails, you might actually forget that you’re within city limits. Hikers will often spot birds, squirrels, and deer. @Staunton
