National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race

August 11, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Crowds line the streets to watch one of the most unique and thrilling events in the country! The 7th year of the National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race is guaranteed to bring excitement as racers from across the globe compete for the championship title by speeding through the streets of Frederick atop high wheel bicycles. High wheel bicycles (also known as penny farthings), which were popular in the 1880s, are bicycles with a large front wheel and a much smaller rear wheel.  The race consists of a multi-lap course along a 0.4 mile route through the heart of Downtown Frederick.
