Committee members will be expected to serve one fiscal year, unless asked or interested in staying longer. To join a committee, a member must be in good standing, having paid their dues in full and regularly attended meetings from the previous year. Each committee will demand different amounts of time, in different forms and will have heavier commitments at certain times of the year, than others. It is strongly suggested that monthly communication between committee members be expected and face-to-face meetings during the annual meeting and at least two additional quarterly meetings be planned for. For these meetings, you may be asked to arrive early or stay later than the regular MATPRA meeting time. Committee update reports by a committee member will be expected and on the agenda at each meeting of the organization. While serving on the committee, it is understood that you are making decisions for the better of the MATPRA organization and all of its members. Those interested in serving should contact the corresponding officer listed. Media Committee, supervised by Secretary Responsible for insuring the best and most relevant media contacts are on file with the organization. The committee maintains an accurate and current media list on Constant Contact, complete with contact information for each journalist. In addition, the committee handles the annual media event invitation, RSVPs and queries and work closely with the host of media event. The committee also works to keep new names and contacts added to the list, while reviewing applications for attendance and approval/rejections as an organization. All committee decisions will be final. Committee handles complaints regarding invitations. This committee should be comprised of 5 members, including the secretary. Two of these members will be appointed by the board/officers of MATPRA, leaving 2 positions to be open each year.Professional Development Committee, supervised by Treasurer The committee is responsible for member education, including brainstorming and arranging presenters and/or topics to keep current with industry trends at all quarterly meetings and Marketplace. It should be comprised of 2-3 additional members, not including the supervising officer. Website Committee, supervised by Immediate Past Chair Responsible for lending credibility to the organization and attracting more quality journalists to connect and build relationships with. It should be comprised of 2-4 additional members, not including the Chair, John Golden and supervising officer. Each member will have a different role to explore, in order to keep the website updated and accurate. Training will be provided. Potential Roles: One person works with the Vice Chair in keeping the membership listings update to-date including contact information, social channels, story ideas One person focuses on posting press releases and meeting invites, agendas and minutes Two people focus on photography… collecting, organizing, uploading and rotating images Social Media Committee, supervised by Vice Chair Implement a social strategy that is easy to manage and maintain. Focus on sharing existing content about the Mid-Atlantic via MATPRA members and writers, and sharing the value of the group by posting articles completed through MATPRA connections. Of the team of 2-4 people managing the accounts, each person would have their own role. Potential Roles: One person focuses on reposting DMO content One person focuses on posting articles completed between MATPRA partners One person responds to comments/media At least one of the admins would be the Officer. The Officer’s role would be to respond to writers via Social Media and serve as the “official voice” for the organization, especially if there is controversy, negative comment, or question about the organization/Marketplace.
