Committee members will be expected to serve one fiscal year unless asked or interested in staying longer. To join a committee, a member must be in good standing, having paid their dues in full and regularly attended meetings from the previous year. Each committee will demand different amounts of time, in different forms and will have heavier commitments at certain times of the year, than others. It is strongly suggested that monthly communication between committee members be expected and face-to-face meetings during the annual meeting and at least two additional quarterly meetings be planned for. For these meetings, you may be asked to arrive early or stay later than the regular MATPRA meeting time. Committee update reports by a committee member will be expected and on the agenda at each meeting of the organization. While serving on the committee, it is understood that you are making decisions for the better of the MATPRA organization and all of its members. Media Committee, supervised by Chair-Elect Responsible for ensuring the best and most relevant media contacts are on file with the organization. The committee maintains an accurate and current media list, complete with contact information for each journalist. In addition, the committee handles the annual media event invitation, RSVPs, and queries and works closely with the host of the media event. The committee also works to keep new names and contacts added to the list, while reviewing applications for attendance and approval/rejections as an organization. All committee decisions will be final. The committee handles complaints regarding invitations. This committee should be comprised of 7 voting members, including the chair, a representative from the next Marketplace destination and 5 members each one representing the five states represented by MATPRA. Those interested in serving should reach out to the committee chair. Website Committee, supervised by Treasurer Responsible for lending credibility to the organization and attracting more quality journalists to connect and build relationships with. It should be comprised of 2-4 additional members, not including the Treasurer. Each member will have a different role to explore, in order to keep the website updated and accurate. Training will be provided. Potential Roles: Assistance with keeping the membership listings up-to-date including contact information, social channels, and user log-ins Assistance with posting press releases and meeting invites, agendas and minutes Assistance with photography… collecting, organizing, uploading and rotating images Assistance with approving events, news/blog posts, itineraries, etc. Brainstorming new content for the site Marketing & Social Media Committee, supervised by Secretary The Marketing & Social Media Committee is responsible for the development of materials to promote MATPRA as an organization to both journalists and potential new members including profile sheets, banners, tablecloths, etc. They also are in charge of implementing a social strategy that is easy to manage and maintain. They focus on sharing existing content about the Mid-Atlantic via MATPRA members and writers, and sharing the value of the group by posting articles completed through MATPRA connections. Of the team of 2-4 people managing the accounts, each person would have their own role. Potential Roles: Content writing and graphic design Assistance with reposting DMO content Assistance with posting articles completed between MATPRA partners Responding to comments/media At least one of the admins would be the Officer. The Officer’s role would be to respond to writers via Social Media and serve as the “official voice” for the organization, especially if there is controversy, negative comment, or question about the organization/Marketplace. Membership Committee, supervised by Chair The Membership Committee manages and maintains a robust, up-to-date membership database and acts as a resource for recruiting and welcoming new members to the MATPRA organization. Duties include: Coordinate timely outreach to new members Assist in annual membership updates Act as a resource for all existing and new members Inform the board and committee chairs of any changes in membership Managing the MailChimp account to ensure all DMO members are current and receiving communications
