30th Annual Lovettsville Oktoberfest

One of Virginia’s oldest and largest Oktoberfest turns 30 this year, and it is coming home. For 2026 the Town of Lovettsville moves the festival off the Town Green and into its historic downtown, the same German Settlement first settled by Rhineland immigrants in the 1720s, decades before Munich threw its first Oktoberfest in 1810.

Expect the oompah of Fairfax’s Alte Kameraden band, stein-hoisting and stein-hauling contests, the fiercely contested Wiener Dog Races, and a proposed downtown refreshment area that would let visitors sip a local pour while they wander. It is a little bit of Germany and a lot of country Virginia, an hour from Washington in the heart of DC’s Wine Country.
