Every so often, your travel takes you somewhere that reignites your soul, reminding you that life is beautiful, that nature heals, and that moments together are priceless. Welcome to the Raystown Lake Region of Pennsylvania! Here, you’ll breathe fresh, pine-infused air, stroll through breathtaking forest scenery, and enjoy 118 miles of unspoiled lake shoreline. Bring your boots, kayak, fishing pole and mountain bike to “activate” your time in Huntingdon County — or just relax by the fire and gaze at the stars. There’s no shortage of spots to recharge

The Raystown Lake Region has opportunities aplenty to breathe in the fresh air, with more than 135,000 acres of public land.

You will find many spots to relax and unwind that are free to access like Raystown Lake, Trough Creek State Park, Greenwood Furnace State Park and Whipple Dam State Park, the Juniata College Peace Chapel, Terrace Mountain Trail, Standing Stone Trail, the Allegrippis Trails, the Raystown Mountain Bike Skills Park and the Seven Points Recreation Area.

There are two public beaches at Raystown Lake. Other options include a Raystown Lake boat tour, delving into the natural wonders of Huntingdon County underground on a cave tour or discovering one of our local museums filled with living history and local lore. You could also “hook up” with a fishing guide or enjoy the roar of the engines at Hesston Speedway.

Accommodations include hotels, luxury vacation homes, cabins, lodges, B&Bs, and Raystown Lake is the only lake within Pennsylvania where you can get a houseboat and live on the water during your vacation!

The Raystown Lake Region is home to Juniata College; a national liberal arts college dedicated to hands-on learning, preparing students for a life of service and leadership in a global setting. Juniatians benefit from rich traditions and academic experiences that flexibly support learners. Their “emphasis” approach to a traditional major creates a unique learning experience.

This region is home to many unique experiences, including the East Broad Top Railroad—a National Historic Landmark and the only surviving narrow-gauge railroad east of the Rocky Mountains. Visit Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks, two spectacular crystal caverns. Find Herbie the Love Bug in one of America’s oldest automobile collections at the Swigart Museum, and discover so much more to fill out your itinerary!

With dog-friendly lodging, patio dining, and countless outdoor adventures, you can bring your four-legged friend along and make them part of your Raystown Lake Region memories.
