Endless Mountains, Pennsylvania

Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau

When a young George Washington set out to explore the Ohio Territory, the area north of the present-day Lehigh Valley was simply labeled “Endless Mountains.” Although plenty has changed since the 1750s, our region’s rolling mountains and country landscapes remain just as breathtaking.

Located between Scranton and Williamsport, the Endless Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania will remind you of the way things used to be. Time seems to move at a slower, more relaxed pace. Family-owned shops and restaurants still line the downtown streets, and rustic general stores still serve as the community hub. Forget rush hour; we have “rush minute” in Dushore, home of Sullivan County’s only stoplight.

Outdoor adventures are our second nature in the Endless Mountains. Our region has hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands, from family-friendly parks to the vast, rugged Loyalsock State Forest. Destinations like Worlds End State Park boast stunning vistas, while Ricketts Glen State Park features over twenty waterfalls along the famous Falls Trail. The Susquehanna River meanders through the pristine Vosburg Neck State Park, perfect for fishing and kayaking. And for cyclists, our Endless Gravel routes provide epic rides along never-ending dirt roads.

Here in the mountains, our cozy hometowns will welcome you like a local. From the towering Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct to the lakeside life in historic Eagles Mere to the massive flower fields of Brown Hill Farms, you’ll find plenty of hidden treasures on our backroads. Discover the arts at destinations like the Dietrich Theater, or dive into local traditions like the beloved outhouse races at Dushore Founder’s Day.

The Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau is the designated destination marketing organization of Sullivan and Wyoming counties. For more information and upcoming events, please visit endlessmountains.org or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
