Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Visit Johnstown

If all you know about Johnstown is its flood, you are missing out on much of its history – and a lot of fun! Did you know our Path of the Flood Trail was named PA’s 2025 Trail of the Year? Or that the Ghost Town Trail is set to become the second looping rail trail in the United States!

Johnstown is reinventing itself once again, turning to recreation-based tourism with an emphasis on what has always been here… lush green hills, rivers, streams and reservoirs; valleys, plateaus and scenic vistas. Its natural resources, combined with year-long festivals and special events, nationally significant historic sites, arts and cultural offerings, and a walkable Downtown, is creating an emerging destination for visitors looking for a new and authentic experiences.

You can boat whitewater on the Stonycreek River; ride our byways; bicycle country lanes, mountain bike single-track and cycle rail-trails; hike atop our lush ridges; and boat, fish, or swim in lakes once owned by steel companies. You can experience our immigrant heritage and growing arts scene. All the area’s experiences come beautifully framed by the scenic Allegheny Mountains.

Johnstown is also home to the only Marvel Comics approved public mural in the world! The mural pays homage to Steve Ditko, a Johnstown native, and the co-creator of Spider-Man.
