The first weekend of December is a big one in Leesburg. Spend the day shopping local artisans, then head downtown as the holiday tree lights up for the season.
Forget the big-box stores. This two-day show at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center is all about local and regional artisans selling hand-made goods: candles, stained glass, carved wood, jewelry, table linens and more. It fills the basketball courts, aerobics room, main hallway and lower level, so there is plenty to browse. Whether you are checking off your gift list or looking for something to brighten your own home, you will find it here. Admission and parking are free.
When: Saturday, December 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, 60 Ida Lee Drive NW, Leesburg
Kick off the season on Saturday evening when the Town of Leesburg lights its holiday tree on the Town Green. Expect live music, holiday characters and plenty of community cheer. Bring the whole family and arrive a little early to claim a good spot.
When: Saturday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. Where: Town Green, 25 West Market Street, Leesburg
Pro-tip: Shop the craft show on Saturday, then fuel up with a holiday pie from Mom’s Apple Pie or a box of sweets from Cowbell Kitchen before the tree lighting.
